Belarus, Kazakhstan to boost trade and economic ties

MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Kazakhstan are satisfied with the multi-vector strategy of expanding the bilateral trade and economic cooperation, says a joint statement adopted by President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and his Kazakhstan counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev on 14 May, BelTA has learnt. The parties agreed to ramp up cooperation in trade, economy, science and technology, culture, humanitarian field and other areas. They instructed the governments to outline and focus on priority areas. The governments were also instructed to enhance the efficiency of existing mechanisms of intergovernmental and inter-agency cooperation, step up interregional ties and business contacts between the two countries. Other priority areas include manufacturing and sci-tech cooperation, the use of Belarus’ solutions and technologies in the machine-building industry of Kazakhstan, establishment of efficient export-oriented joint production facilities in Belarus and Kazakhstan with the assistance of third countries, comprehensive support for joint projects and their inclusion in the government and sectoral programs and state procurement contracts of Belarus and Kazakhstan, etc. Belarus and Kazakhstan are going to deepen cooperation in medicine, science, education and culture.
