Belarus urged to promote tourism more actively

22.01.2019

Belarus should promote its tourist potential more actively, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Sangeeta Bahadur told a press conference, BelTA has learned.

According to the diplomat, Indian tourists travel a lot around the world, and only a few of them know about Belarus. "It is high time for travel agencies to advertise Belarus more in India. If my compatriots learn more about your country, they will come to visit," Ambassador Sangeeta Bahadur said.

The head of the Indian diplomatic mission urged to give as much information as possible about the advantages of Belarus over Western European countries, for example, from a financial point of view. The ambassador seeks to popularize Belarus on her Facebook page, but of course, that is not enough.

The ambassador was asked about the increase in the cost of India visas from $40 to $100. Sangeeta Bahadur noted that it did not particularly affect the number of visitors to India. There was some decline in the first months but then everything was back to normal.

The diplomat highlighted that the embassy of India annually issues 7,000-8,000 visas to Belarusians. Opening a direct air service could contribute to the growth of tourist flows on both sides.
