VITEBSK, 8 June (BelTA) – The creation of a political party based on the nationwide public association Belaya Rus is a vital necessity, said Oleg Proleskovsky, Belarusian Information Minister, a member of the republican council of the public association Belaya Rus, in his speech before participants of the second report and election conference of the Vitebsk Oblast organization of the public association Belaya Rus on 8 June. The Minister stressed that the idea to convert the association into a political party will be discussed at a national congress of the organization in autumn. “I believe the party is necessary and should be created. Belaya Rus is ready for the change, it is ready to become a political party,” said Oleg Proleskovsky. He said he hopes the decision would be made. Turning Belaya Rus into a subject of public politics with its own attributes, experts on various matters, discussions, and the pursuance of a common active policy and so on will be the key challenge, said Oleg Proleskovsky. He reminded that Belarus is now part of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space. “Although taking part in these associations meets economic interests of Belarus, the practice indicates that efforts are sometimes needed to protect interests of Belarusian interests. Political parties, public associations, trade unions, and industry associations play a special role in it. Therefore it is correct to say that the creation of a political party based on our organization is a vital necessity,” concluded Oleg Proleskovsky.
