Belarus-Vietnam cooperation in law enforcement discussed in Hanoi

A delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs led by Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov is on an official visit to Vietnam, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Belarusian delegation visited the Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi to get familiar with its facilities and resources and learn more about its special units. In particular, the Belarusian delegation was shown martial arts using service dogs.

Addressing the head of the Ministry of Public Security To Lam, Ivan Kubrakov expressed confidence in the further development of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Belarus and Vietnam. He noted that combating international crime, terrorism, extremism, cybercrime, drug trafficking and illegal migration requires joint efforts. In his opinion, the necessary conditions are in place for that.

Special consideration was attached to the provision of Vietnamese law enforcement officers with special-purpose equipment and gear modeled on the ones used by their Belarusian colleagues. The parties also discussed the training programs in educational institutions and divisions of the Belarusian police department.

The parties signed the program of cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and also the Memorandum of Understanding between the Public Security Department of the City of Hanoi and the Minsk City Police Department. A meeting was also held between Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The parties expressed interest in expanding economic cooperation and deepening cooperation in law enforcement. According to Pham Minh Chinh, work is underway on organizing a visit of the Belarusian prime minister to Vietnam.
