13.10.2023

Trust-based and friendly relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan have reached a new level in recent years, Charge d'Affaires of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov said at an event to mark the 32nd anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence. The event was held in Minsk on 12 October, BelTA reports.

“Mutual visits of the two heads of state and their regular communication on international platforms opened up a new chapter in the history of Belarus-Uzbekistan relations and filled them with specific and practical content,” the diplomat said.

According to him, it is important to expand interparliamentary contacts in order to promote constructive dialogue. Contacts between heads of interparliamentary cooperation groups have become regular.

Joint efforts resulted in a steady increase in trade between the two countries. In 2022, the trade between Uzbekistan and Belarus rose significantly. For the first time in the history of bilateral relations, the trade exceeded the half-billion mark,” the charge d'affaires noted.

Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic Sergei Rachkov, in turn, highlighted the importance of intensifying Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation. “Belarus and Uzbekistan are long-time friends and partners,” emphasized Sergei Rachkov.
