Opinion: Cooperation of China, Belarus with Russia is a deterrent for the West

27.12.2022

Doctor of Military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov opined on the joint military drills of Russia and China in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.

“A number of significant events took place within a very short period of time. These are the visit to the joint headquarters of the armed forces, the meeting of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, the meeting of the leader of the United Russia party with the leader of the Communist Party of China, the joint naval drills of Russia and China. It is fundamentally important that the Russian and Chinese warships took part in the joint drills,” Konstantin Sivkov said.

He added that, most likely, during these exercises the Russian and Chinese warships practiced joint action to break through enemy aircraft carriers. These carriers can only be American.

The expert also noted that cooperation with China will not significantly change the state of affairs in Europe. “I don't think that this will somehow dramatically change the situation, because everything is already shaped by geopolitics,” said Konstantin Sivkov. He noted that this kind of cooperation will serve as a deterrent to the West.

He also opined on the joint exercises of Belarus and Russia. “The thing is that the joint military task force, the aviation group are practicing to repel possible aggression against Belarus from Poland. This is the main task that is being addressed there,” emphasized Konstantin Sivkov.
