Russia's Voronezh Oblast seeks more construction projects with Belarus

14.03.2023

Voronezh Oblast remains interested in running joint construction projects with Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the Voronezh Oblast Government Konstantin Kuznetsov told reporters after he met with Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova on 13 March, BelTA has learned.

“I represent the construction industry of our region. The issues that we have discussed today deal with the construction sector and interaction between Russia and Belarus. Several joint projects are running in Voronezh Oblast; a school in Strelitsa was commissioned in 2019. It turned out to be a wonderful, high-quality and very beautiful school. Now partners from Belarus are building Russia's biggest school in Voronezh - a mega school, as we call it, for 2,860 students. It is slated for opening on 1 September 2023, and we invited Natalya Ivanovna to attend the grand opening ceremony of this wonderful facility,” said Konstantin Kuznetsov.

In addition, a sports complex is under construction in Voronezh - the Fakel stadium. “This new facility for our famous football team Fakel will serve as a training base, and will also be used as the main first category stadium for the Russian Premier League championships,” the deputy prime minister noted. “We have also discussed an important task set by Governor Alexander Gusev – renovation of the Central Stadium of Trade Unions. We have come to see sports facilities built in Minsk. We would like to know how such complex construction facilities were integrated in the extremely packed landscape of the city's downtown. We have an arrangement that on behalf of the governor we will invite Belarusian architects and builders to implement such a complex project in Voronezh,” he said.

Housing construction projects were also discussed at the meeting. “Shklov-made house sets are already available for sale in Bobrov District of Voronezh Oblast. We are planning the construction of a large cottage village using your remarkable construction solutions. We lovingly call them Shklov Houses. We have also discussed cooperation in education - the construction of a huge kindergarten for 600 kids and many other facilities,” said Konstantin Kuznetsov.

According to him, Minsk is very similar to Voronezh. “I feel at home here. It is particularly pleasant,” added Konstantin Kuznetsov.
