There is no hidden agenda in my politics. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement while talking to participants of the solemn ceremony held on 2 April to place a time capsule at the construction site of a new hospital in Grodno, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “There is no hidden agenda in my politics. Things will be done the way I formulate them. They will be done the way that is beneficial for our people from Grodno to Orsha where I was born.” 

He encouraged Belarusians to first and foremost appreciate their land and do everything in order to improve people’s lives on this land: “Stick together. Don’t quarrel. We will have plenty of everything. We have plenty of land. When we have our own land, then we will live a normal life. If we lose our footing and our roots here, there will be trouble.” 

The head of state remarked that some Belarusians have left the country in the last few years but many of them are eager to come back now. They contact the relevant commission chaired by Prosecutor General Andrei Shved in addition to other channels. “You have to appreciate your land. You have to appreciate your own so that you wouldn’t have to ask to be let back later on. Certainly, we feel pity for these people. They demonstrated what they are in social networks back then. Today we look at these networks and see who did what. Who marched in front ranks and was ready to kill with knives and axes. And who was simply crazy due to the pandemic and the rest. People have the right to make errors. This is why this commission has been created and its term of office has been extended,” the president said. 

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus does not divide its citizens on the basis of ethnicity: “I am often told that Poles are getting oppressed. I tell them right away: calm down, guys, these are my Poles. I am responsible for them. But those people across the border are your Poles. You have to work with them. Ordinary Poles, Lithuanians have a good attitude towards us and understand us. And we should do the same in the Belarusian way. We should be flexible and accurate.”
