Lukashenko to stop Belarusians from coming back from abroad to enjoy cheap medical care

03.04.2024

The problem of those, who have left Belarus but keep coming back in order to enjoy cheap medical care, will be resolved. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement during the solemn ceremony held on 2 April to place a time capsule at the construction site of a new hospital in Grodno, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko told residents of the city: “Grodno is our country, our land, our city. We will not yield a millimeter of it to anyone. If you don’t feel well here, if your life here is complicated, feel free to leave. Certainly, it is a pity that some people leave. But we don’t force anyone to stay here.”

Continuing the line of thought, Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled a conversation he had had with a former Grodno mayor several years before: “I told him your people are leaving. Something must be wrong here. He said that indeed they were leaving but they come back to fix their teeth. End of quote. Dental services are on the expensive side abroad.”

“I have to tell you that we will now resolve the problem. We will resolve it despite the presidential election, despite the election campaign,” the head of state said. “Because you have to understand: they come here to fix their teeth on the cheap and cure other diseases at your expense. You pay taxes as natural persons. Your enterprise also pays taxes. They come here for cheap medical treatment.”
