Kochanova warns against formalism in processing people's complaints, requests

There should be no formalism while dealing with citizens' complaints and requests, Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova said at an extended offsite meeting of the Presidium of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly in Ivatsevichi, BelTA has learned.

“We must do everything to make sure that no one is left behind by the government no matter where they live. This is the most important thing while processing peoples' complaints and requests. There is no other way. We are doing a lot to make people's life better. This is the main demand of our president. He keeps reiterating that people are at the heart of everything in our country. And sometimes we should reach out to people before they come to us. Of course, there should be no formalism in this work,” Natalya Kochanova said.

She noted that senators spend much time processing complaints and requests, and this work remains relevant. “We do it not only to solve specific problems of a specific person, but also to get a better understanding of most common problems in a particular region of our country,” the speaker of the upper house of parliament noted.

The day before, senators held public hours in Brest Oblast. Natalya Kochanova received applicants in Gantsevichi. She drew attention to massive landscaping work that is being done there in the run-up to the Dazhynki agricultural festival. “All regions of our country carry on landscaping and refurbishment works despite a difficult time. Every person should know that the government cares about them. That they have the right to reach out to authorities and to be heard. We must help people in every possible way,” Natalya Kochanova said.

It is noteworthy that during the public hours, people voiced not only their grievances and concerns, but also suggestions. “I was very pleased to see that people raise not only their personal issues, but problems that concern the whole country. This is worth a lot. This means that people trust the authorities, come up with proposals, wishes. And we must work with people in a very responsible way. I urge you to do this. This is of paramount importance,” the speaker added.
