Minister: Belarusian police take exhaustive measures to ensure security

The internal affairs bodies are doing everything necessary to ensure security in the country, Belarus’ Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov said reviewing the results of a counter-terrorism exercise staged in one of Minsk shopping malls, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“We have thoroughly analyzed the tragedy in Moscow Oblast, taking into account possible nuances, and worked out additional measures to manage security in crowded places, including shopping malls. We did our best to ensure full control of the situation without causing inconvenience to shoppers,” the minister stressed.

He assured that the ministry will analyze the results of the exercise and will focus on problematic aspects.

“In May, there are plans to hold major exercises involving the country’s territorial bodies of internal affairs and show how to act in certain situations,” Ivan Kubrakov said.

“I can reassure residents and visitors of the country that there is no cause for concern. The internal affairs bodies are doing everything necessary, taking exhaustive measures to ensure security,” he added.

According to Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev, the events taking place in the world show that one should always be on the alert. In his opinion, the recent counter-terrorist exercise has revealed both strengths and weaknesses. “It is important to analyze every detail and eliminate shortcomings as soon as possible,” the Minsk mayor said.
