Lukashenko: Relations between Belarus, Kazakhstan are at a very high level

Relations between Belarus and Kazakhstan are at a very high level, but there is still room for improvement, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu in Minsk on 19 June, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that this visit will contribute towards the strengthening of bilateral relations. "Relations between Belarus and Kazakhstan are at a very high level, but, as sportsmen say, there is still room for improvement," the president said.

Belarus, according to the president, is very closely watching the process of transformation of governance institutions and society in Kazakhstan and, as they say, take note of a lot of things. "You are doing the right thing by strengthening both the independence of your state and security, which is important today," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

"You should know that Belarus has always been your friend and you can count on us," the head of state stressed.

During the meeting, the Belarusian leader also conveyed greetings and warmest wishes to his Kazakh counterpart and good friend Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. "When there is an opportunity, please convey my warmest regards to Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first president of Kazakhstan, with whom we worked a lot," Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
